Hello everyone!
Thanks to everyone who wrote back and let me know that they wanted me to keep them posted on what we are doing! Hopefully this will be shorter than last month, but just as fun! We are all doing great! The kids are still adjusting (I guess so are we). This past month has been full and gone by pretty fast. I’m going to start with Adams fun things this month because they’ve been very entertaining…
We had parent teacher conferences in October, I was able to talk to all the kids teachers (I work with them, so how hard was that?) Anyway- Adam it seems has invited his whole class to his birthday party and so they are all looking forward to it, one parent even asked me about it, her son told her it was coming and they had to go…. Adam’s birthday is in March, so it looks like we are going to have a big party in March, he really doesn’t understand how far away that is J I got a bunch of papers from Adams teacher that he has colored, he has drawn pictures of himself and pictures of our family – they are very nice, he used a brown crayon for all our skin… he either thinks we got really tan, or he is trying to fit in with everyone else. J
Brandon is doing great at his “school”. They are doing a preschool and involving him, he sings a bunch of nursery rhymes, the abc’s, and is pointing to the letter m and saying that is a mmmmm. Now I hope they potty train him so I don’t have too.
Jason, Miriah, and Adam all got their report cards in October also. Jason got straight A’s, Miriah only got one B (in Chamorro – so we are very, very, very happy about that!!!) And Adam got mostly M’s (that is kind of like an A – he still needs to work on his address and phone number, but before we moved he just barely learned our old one, so it’s ok, it will take some time!).
Miriah is doing well at dance, she loves it, she is also helping to pay for it by watching the boys and doing other jobs around the house. She is doing very well in school as you can tell by her grades. She does her homework very well everynight. Miriah was nominated for 5th grade class president in October too! She had to give a speech, which her teacher said she did very well. She didn’t win, but she got over it in a day or so and still is having a good time at school.
Jason is still our peacemaker most the time. He is a great helper and is a great student! He also loves primary and is popular with his classmates at school and church.
Steven is preparing to go on 4 trips within the next month or so. One of the IT guys from New Zealand is coming over to train him and take him to some of the other islands for other training. He has also been asked to teach Sunday School once a month, and is going to be a substitute seminary teacher for 3 days while the regular teacher is off island. He is still loving his job and working with everyone at the church. Although he really hasn’t been too busy, it seems that this next month will be a bit busier for him!
I’ve been really busy this month. My teachers at the U will be glad to know that I had to give two trainings this month, one to the deaf and hard of hearing staff at my school about the FM equipment we use (I actually used one of the assignments from Cheryls’ class and tweeked it a bit –). For the other one I taught at a staff development day for some of the teachers at my school and teachers at another school talking about deaf awareness and how to incorporate children with hearing impairments into your regular mainstream class (unfortunately for me and my computer, our hard drive crashed the night before my presentation and I had to rewrite the whole thing late that night at school!). I also had to do sharing time at Primary and fill in as a teacher for 4 weeks. I helped out at activity days for the 8-11 year olds. We had a Super Saturday for Relief Society, I REALLY missed Robin Kriessler, I got my project done, but it doesn’t look as good as the ones she helped me with (or did for me!). The school had a parent fair on October 30, to help the parents in the area see what types of resources are available for them (autism, deaf, other disabilities, police, safety, etc). I was on the committee for that, I really didn’t do any thing, except show up to the meetings and help set up and take down, but they seemed to need the people! Oh – I also had to speak in church this month. Steve also had to speak, but on a different Sunday. He did great! I told everyone to write my mom if I did ok, because when she heard me speak to the 8th ward, I didn’t do so well J So, let me know if you hear from anyone, Mom! People told me they were going to write her LOL!
We want to welcome Justin Teeples home from his mssion!! Write us and tell us lots!
This is not any shorter that last month – sorry! I have some pictures, but the scanner isn’t hooked up yet, so I’ll get them scanned in later and send on the address. Hopefully over Christmas break I’ll have some time to get my webpage changed over to a Guam family site! Hope everything is going well for all of you! Take care!
