Hello everyone!                                                         December 5, 2004

All month I’ve been thinking of cool things to write.  We’ll be doing something as a family and I’ll say – oh I need to include that in my letter!  Now that I sit down to type – I forget.  Let’s see…  It doesn’t seem like December, because it’s 80 degrees outside.  We’re still getting used to that.  I’ll tell you about November.

Steven had one of his coworkers from New Zealand come over for over a week.  While Derek was here, they went to visit the chapels in PohnPei, Yap, and Majuro.  They also went on a day trip to Saipan.  Steven was very impressed with everything he learned from Derek.  This part of his job was totally computer related, they were setting up new computers in the different areas.  He had a great time, but a lot less sight seeing th! an his last trip.  This was all work.

Lorell has been eating the whole month of November, or so it seemed!  There are fiesta’s everywhere!  We had fiesta’s at school for Thanksgiving and for other activities that the kids were involved in.  There is going to be another student in my class pretty soon, so I had to go observe him in his regular class, go to an IEP meeting at another school and continue to teach when I was in my own class J  I am also involved in a group called Y Famigunta (or something like that – it means “the family” I think).  This group is to help families become independent and to help their children act appropriately.  One of my student’s families is involved, so I am involved helping this family and student.  We had a couple of meetings for this group this month also.  I’ve also had a friend of mine from school take one of the missionary discussions and also come with me to enrichment night.  Four of the missionaries were also able to volunteer in my class for a couple hours one day this month!  One speaks Chuukese, so he was able to help us figure out if one of my students can hear more ! than we think J  Still need more tests, but it was a great help!

Starting back at our branch Halloween party for the kids (actually it was a tri-branch party) it was a lot of fun.  The kids got to trunk or treat then go inside the church and play games, it was strange not having to wear clothing under or coats over our costumes this year!  Now to Thanksgiving – the kids came to my room for a fiesta for the day before Thanksgiving, Steve also stopped by for lunch.  Thanksgiving day the kids had a great time, we went to the beach in the morning then came home for dinner.   We had 27 people over for dinner.  Four missionaries and some friends who are interested in the church, my friend Connie from school helped me with dinner, it turned out great!!   Still too much food!

Miriah, Jason and Adam all entered a “fresh fruit produce contest” at school, they made different produce into a character from a book.  Miriah made a potato into Clara from “Heidi”.  Jason made a potato into the mouse from “If you give a mouse a cookie”.  And Adam sewed grapes together to make the caterpillar from “the very hungry caterpillar”.  They all took third place in various categories (funniest, most original, and most unique, I think).  The first lady of Guam, Mrs. Camancho and a Lutenent Commander from the Navy came to judge the contest and present them with their awards! .  They all won a $5.00 gift certificate to one of the malls.  We had fun spending them on Christmas presents for friends and on lunch with the family.  Brandon is still doing really well at preschool, he sings all the time, loves to sing on the phone with Nana and his aunts.

We are probably losing one or more of our deaf ed teachers pretty soon (January and June), so if anyone knows of anyone that wants to live on a tropical island and can teach deaf kids – let me know!

Check out our new pictures titled nov 04 at this link.  I’ll try and add more pictures soon.  I was going to put these up on a website, but there are getting to be too many pictures and this lets you see the small pictures first, they don’t take as long to download.  Hopefully over Christmas break I’ll get sometime to work on a family webpage.

Best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season!  I’ve lost a lot of snail mail addresses in the move, so if you get a chance and think I may not have your address; please email it to me so I can update my address book.  Thank you!
